During this short course, you will be introduced to various approaches to drawing and painting. You will develop your observational skills, creative thinking and personal visual language.

More information

This course has various start dates throughout the year. You will attend one evening per week and the course will take 8 weeks to complete.

The course starts on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 30th September 2025 | 6.00pm – 8.00pm
  • Tuesday 20th January 2026 | 6.00pm – 8.00pm
  • Tuesday 28th April 2026 | 6.00pm – 8.00pm

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

Using a wide range of drawing media, you will explore various approaches to objective/measured drawing and to the more exploratory uses of drawing and painting media.

There is no formal assessment. You will be given feedback based on your progress with suggestions and guidance for areas for improvement.

There are no formal entry requirements. All you need is commitment and enthusiasm.

As with all our leisure courses the main emphasis is to come along and enjoy the course!

You may be eligible for funding if you have not recently participated in a similar programme, or received any other recent government funded training.

There are a number of fee options for this course including:

  • If you are unemployed – FREE
  • If you are employed – £30
  • If you are not eligible for funding – £180
You may wish to progress on to an accredited qualification in a creative arts subject which will allow you to practice your skills in the industry.
